Worcester is the administrative capital of the county of Worcestershire, lying beside the River Severn. It is famous for its gloves, Royal Worcester Porcelain and Worcestershire sauce, but particularly famous for the magnificent mediaeval Cathedral where King John is entombed. Although much of the city’s architecture is modern, Worcester boasts numerous mediaeval and Tudor buildings. The most prestigious one of the old buildings is The Commandery that now houses exhibitions of the Civil War.
The Royal Worcester Porcelain Works Museum houses an excellent collection of porcelain and is definitely worth a visit. The Worcester City Museum & Art Gallery is another interesting place.
Near Worcester, there is the charming and unspoilt Spetchley Park that is a perfect place for relaxation.
