Driving Restrictions

In Curacao, driving is on the right side of the road and overtaking on the left. The legal driving age is 18. All passengers are required to use seatbelts. Children must be at least 12 to sit in the front in a safety seat; younger children must sit in a child seat in the rear. The legal blood alcohol limit is 0.5‰.

Always give priority to traffic coming from your right unless indicated otherwise.

Use your horn only when you present a risk to traffic. At night, flash your headlights instead.

If you park your vehicle publicly overnight, you need to illuminate it somehow unless you are parking in a ramp or built-up area or within 30 metres of a street light. Do not park near a bus stop where the curb or pavement is painted black-and-white or yellow.
