About Veszprem

Veszprem is called “the Town of the Queens” because it used to be the duty of the bishops of Veszprem to crown the Hungarian Queens. The town has twisting, narrow streets and tiny houses, flowery gardens and green willows. The houses in the Castle District create a historical atmosphere and the Castle Gallery houses temporary exhibitions.

Veszprem is also home to a university. The famous Petofi Theatre attracts thousands of visitors throughout the year and excellent cultural performances can also been seen in the town. In the park near the theatre rises the Romantic-style building of the county library. There is also a zoo in the town, housing some zoological rarities besides the species that can be found in every zoo.
