Driving Restrictions

Traffic is on the left and passing on the right. The minimum driving age is 18 years. All passengers are required to use seatbelts. The legal blood alcohol limit is 0.5‰. Breathalyser tests may be carried out at any time and drunk driving is severely punished.

There are parking metres on the major streets in Malta and you can park up to two hours at a time. Parking may be a problem in Malta due to a shortage of car parks. Illegally parked vehciles will be wheel-clamped or confiscated.

Sliema is a thriving, densely populated and the largest residential and tourist area in Malta. Particularly along the seafront, modern development has changed the face of Sliema as old buildings have been destroyed to make way for multistorey hotels and apartment blocks.

There are wide golden rocks with access to the sea all along under the seafront. There are also numerous gourmet restaurants and sporting facilities in Sliema as well as the smartest shops and boutiques. There is also plenty to do in the city at night.
