About Nevers

Nevers is the third city of Burgundy and the capital of the historical region of the Nivernais, situated at the confluence of three rivers. The historical centre of the town lies in the upper town that includes both the Cathedral and the nearby Ducal Palace. In the lower town, there is also much to admire; the church of Saint-Etienne is one of the most notable buildings.

Other impressive monuments include the Porte du Croux, a gateway tower surviving from the mediaeval era, now housing the Nivernais Archaeological Museum. The Frederic Blandin Municipal Museum and the Couvent Saint-Gildard are also worth visiting.
