About Namur
Namur is the capital of the province of Namur. It is located at the confluence of two important rivers and has thus been continuously assaulted in the past. As a result, there are not many antiquities in the city, but there is still enough for the visitors to see and do.
One of the greatest buildings in Namur is the St. Alban’s Cathedral. The Meat Hall is one of the most impressive monuments and archaeological museums of Wallonia. The greatest monument in the city is, however, the Citadel, offering its visitors a look at its wonderful past. The convent of the Sisters of Notre Dame is home to one of the most important art treasures in Belgium: the Treasure of Hugo d’Oignies – a collection of religious artifacts in the Mosan style.
