The minimum age of a driver is 18 years. Children under 12 and seated in the front, must be in a child seat. The use of seatbelts is compulsory for all passengers. The legal blood alcohol limit is 0.8‰.
Generally, traffic on the right has priority. Passing is allowed on the left only.
In built-up areas, you can only use the horn in case of immediate and extreme danger. Outside built-up areas, you should use the horn during daytime to indicate your intention to pass or warn. The horn should also be used in weather conditions that significantly reduce visibility. If you want to pass, flash your headlights.
The police are authorised to collect fines on the spot.
Blue Zone parking exists in major cities. When parking in these zones, you must obtain a parking disc. Luxembourg city has parking meters and machines that give out tickets. Wheel clamps are placed on illegally parked vehicles.
