About Luebeck
Luebeck is a glorious mediaeval town that has maintained its original flair and demonstrates to its visitors a perfect impression of an old Hanseatic town – narrow cobbled streets, brick churches, scenic backyards. It lies on the Trave River.
Luebeck is a major port and a commercial and industrial centre. It is off the tourist trail and thus a quiet alternative to the more spectacular attractions in the south. The old town was heavily bombed in World War II, but has been rebuilt and still displays the town’s charm today. While in Luebeck, you should not miss the lovely Puppet Theatre.
