Driving Restrictions

London has excellent public transport and dense traffic, so it is advisable not to drive there. Rush hours are from 8.30 am to 10 am and from 5.30 pm to 7 pm.

Driving is on the left-hand side of the road. The minimum age of a driver is 17 years. Seat belts should be worn both front and rear. The legal blood alcohol limit is 0.8‰.

Flashing amber lights indicate that the pedestrians have to right on the crossing to pass first. There are very few stop signs in the UK; instead, the traffic is controlled by priority rules and traffic signals. Generally, priority is given to the vehicles on the right.

If a right-turn is forbidden, it is explicitly marked with a no-right-turn sign, or the turn is made impossible by placing a barrier to the centre of the road.

It is not advised to flash your headlights to indicate that you want to pass as this may offend the driver ahead of you.

While driving, the driver is not allowed to use a mobile phone.

Emergency Numbers

police/ambulance/fire - 999

Road Tolls
