Rental Restrictions
The minimum age for driving a hired car in Iceland is 21 years and 25 years for a jeep. All rental cars must remain on Iceland.
Driving Restrictions
The minimum driving age in Iceland is 18 years. Driving is on the right and passing on the left. All passengers are required to use seatbelts. Children must wear either safety belts or be seated in children seats. The legal blood alcohol limit is 0.5‰.
The headlights must always be on when driving. It is illegal to use a mobile phone while driving unless you have hands-free equipment.
It is forbidden to drive off roads or on marked tracks. You have to be very careful when passing a horse or a rider. Domestic animals should always be given right of way.
There are a few parking garages in Reykjavik, but they are not as common in other places in Iceland. Always park in the direction of traffic and do not park within 5 metres from a pedestrian crossing or an intersection.

There are no toll motorways in Iceland. However, there is a toll of about ISK 1,000 to use the Hvalfjudor Tunnel.
