Cars rented in Romania are not allowed into the following countries: Albania, Bosnia/Herzegovina, Croatia and Slovenia.
Driving Restrictions
In Romania, traffic is on the right and passing on the left. The minimum driving age is 18 years. Drunk driving is strictly prohibited – the legal blood alcohol limit is 0. Children under the age of 12 are not allowed to sit in the front seat. The use of seatbelts is required from all passengers.
When driving, you can only use a mobile phone if you have a hands-free system.
Trams are the only vehicles that can be passed on the right. On a roundabout, vehicles entering on the right of it are given priority.
Parking is allowed on the right side of the street only and cars must be parked in the direction of traffic. Do not park alongside national highways.
The police are authorised to collect fines on the spot.
