The minimum age of a driver is 17 years. Children must be at least 12 years old to sit in the front. Thos under 12 must be seated in the rear in a child seat, if fitted. All passnegers are required to use seatbelts. The legal blood alcohol limit is 0.5‰.

The police use automatic cameras to catch violators. The ticket will be posted to the address on the registration. If the car is rented, the rental company will forward the ticket to the offending client.

Exceeding the speed limits will result in large fines as does going through a red light or passing on the right. It is illegal to drive with the parking lights only. Low beams must be used during bad weather.

If you leave your car or stop for more than 3 minutes without loading or unloading passengers or cargo, you are regarded as parked. Parking is forbidden within 5 metres of a pedestrian crossing or an intersection. No-parking zones are indicated with a zig-zag white line on the street. When parking, you must leave at least 3 metres between your vehicle and the middle of the street or the nearest lane divider.
