Rental Restrictions
To rent a car, you must be at least 21 years old (age may vary by car category) and have held your licence for three years. Drivers under the age of 25 may incur a young driver surcharge.
Cars rented in Cyprus may not be taken off the island or driven into the Turkish occupied area of Cyprus.
Driving Restrictions
In Cyprus, traffic is on the left and passing on the right. The minimum driving age is 18 years. In order to sit in the front, children must be at least 5 years old. Front-seat passengers are required to use seatbelts. The legal blood alcohol limit is 0.5‰.
Between half an hour after sunset and half an hour before sunrise, headlights must be used. You should not use the horn in built-up areas, especially between 10 pm and 6 am and near hospitals.
Parking meters are found in town centres and are valid for 1 hour. Do not park where the curb is painted yellow with a double line. A single yellow line on the curb indicates a loading and unloading zone, but allows no parking.
