Car Rental Restrictions

To rent a car, you must be at least 21 years old (age may vary by car category) and have held your license for 1 year. Drivers under the age of 25 may incur a young driver surcharge. Some suppliers have a maximum age limit of 80 years old. Seatbelts are mandatory. Infant seats are mandatory for children up to age 4. Child seats are required for children aged 4 to 6.

Cars rented in Denmark are not allowed into the following countries: Albania Bosnia, Belarus, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Croatia, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Montenegro, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Turkey, Ukraine and Yugoslavia.

Driving Restrictions in Copenhagen

Traffic is on the right. The minimum age of a driver is 18 years. Children under 3 years of age must be seated in a special child seat. The use of seatbelts is compulsory for front-seat passengers. The legal blood alcohol limit is 0.5‰.

When driving, headlights must be on at all times. The horn should only be used in case of extreme danger. Lights should be flashed to signal warning instead. When waiting at a level train crossing, headlights should be off and only sidelights on.

The police are authorised to collect fines on the spot.

Parkering/Standsning/Stop Forbudt means No parking/No stopping, but in such a zone you are allowed a three-minute period for loading and unloading. Usually, parking discs allow parking for an hour and are required where no parking metres are in place. Parking metres usually allow up to 3 hours of parking time.
