About Bodo

Bodo, the northernmost town on the Coastal Route, is the largest and capital city of the Nordland county. It is very popular in the summer – one of the largest towns in Norway experiencing the midnight sun. The winters in the city, however, are completely dark. If you visit the nearby Lofoten Islands, you will see the greatest population of sea eagles in the world..

Bodo was burned to the ground in World War II, but a few buildings have survived, paying a tribute to the town’s history as a northern trading post. There are several museums in the city, including the Norwegian Aviation Museum. the Open-Air Museum and the Nordland Museum are also worth a visit. Other places of interest are the Bodin Church and the Bodo Cathedral.
