Rental Restrictions

To rent a car in Denmark, you must be at least 21 years old and have held your license for 1 year. Drivers under the age of 25 may have to pay a young driver surcharge. Some suppliers have a maximum age limit of 80 years.

Cars rented in Denmark are not allowed into the following countries: Albania, Bosnia, Belarus, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Russia, Turkey, Ukraine and the the former republics of Yugoslavia.

Driving Restrictions

In Denmark, traffic is on the right. The minimum age of a driver is 18 years. Children under 3 years of age must be seated in a special child seat. The use of seatbelts is compulsory for front-seat passengers and the legal blood alcohol limit is 0.8‰.

While driving, headlights must be on at all times. The horn should only be used in case of extreme danger. Lights should be flashed to signal warning instead.

Parkering/Standsning/Stop Forbudt means No parking/No stopping, but in this zone you are allowed a three-minute period for loading and unloading. Usually, parking discs allow parking for an hour and are required where no parking metres exist. Parking metres usually allow up to 3 hours of parking time.
